How do I look after your child?

Child Development

I'm committed to the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage – this is the national guidance for working with children from birth to five. I give children of all ages the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge across as many areas of learning as possible.

To promote children's stages of development and encourage socialising skills, independence and confidence, I work with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Children's work/photographs are displayed in my setting so parents and children can see what we've been doing. An optional daily diary/text/email is also written detailing the child's activities, routines etc. and your child has a personal on-line Learning Journey which records photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with me.

I feel its important to involve the parents/carers as much as possible with their ongoing development. Therefore, I have chosen to use a simple to use, excellent, online programme called Tapestry. Your child's observations are recorded on this sytem so when your childs photograph/video observation is added you will automatically be alerted by email. You can then log onto your own childs Tapestry Learning Journal at any time, enabling you to have a look at your leisure. Your child's Learning Journal is password protected and only you can view/add to your childs journal. This is a great insight into your child's time here at Avenues Childcare.

I like to encourage parents/carers to add photos and videos and record any information or achievements witnessed whilst away from my setting. It's great for me to see what the children have been up to whilst not in my care, this enables me to build on your childs ongoing interests and activities. It's a great way of visually sharing their experiences and makes interesting discussions!

I have been using this system since the begnning of 2015 which is already proven to be a great success, the parents love it!

Each child will receive a CD of their Learning Journal as a momento of their precious time with me when they leave.

Mealtimes

I like mealtimes to be fun, social occasions, so I treat them that way. I encourage children to be independent and to have good table manners. Your children can then learn to share with others and have fun chatting with their friends.

Trips out

We like to go out daily. We take trips to, for example, Crealy Adventure Park, Bicton Park, The World of Country Life, Exmouth seafront Play Park, local parks, Budleigh beach and parks and Creation Station sessions, livery yard and farm, train and bus journeys etc.

All passes/season tickets are included within my fee. I like to organise a fun Christmas Party for the children every year, sometimes with a professional entertainer.
